The face behind the voice

Mental Health Lives is a space shaped by 15 + years of mental health nursing experience and personal lived experience. It is here to share honest reflections, practical understanding, and hope for anyone finding their way through mental health challenges. You are not alone, and your voice matters.

A nurse’s experience, a human story

For 15 years, I worked as a mental health nurse, listening to people in distress and learning how varied recovery can look. I eventually resigned early because of my own mental health. That experience changed my perspective: knowledge matters, but so do compassion, lived experience, and being met without judgement. Mental Health Lives brings these perspectives together—not as a replacement for professional care, but as a place for real, respectful conversation.

Making space for the hard-to-say things

This blog explores what depression can feel like, including the different stages it may take, alongside anxiety, complex PTSD, trauma, abuse, and recovery after narcissistic relationships. You can also expect compassionate discussion of bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, and other personality disorders, supported by case-study insights and a strong belief in dignity. Every person’s experience is different; these stories are shared to help us feel less isolated.

There is still something you can do

Sometimes mental health changes what we are able to do, and grieving that loss can be real. But it does not erase your value. Your experience, knowledge, empathy, faith, hope, and love can matter deeply—to you and to someone else who needs to hear, “Me too.” Mental Health Lives is growing a community of mental health survivors who can share their stories, support one another, and follow the journey together.

“Even when you cannot do what you once could, you can still do something—and your story may help another person hold on.”
